About Dr. Bosung (John) Kim
Dr. Bosung (John) Kim has been a native of Vancouver since the young age of 5. He received his Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Waterloo and then continued to pursue his Doctorate of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago graduating with Cum Laude Honors. He was a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, Tomb and Key Honor Society, and also served as President of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society during his studies.
As part of his extensive training he provided optometric services in primary care, pediatric services including vision therapy, and specialty contact lenses at the Illinois College of Optometry. He also managed a wide variety of ocular diseases and low vision patients at the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Ohio. As well, he co-managed patients with numerous ophthalmologists at Georgia Eye Partners in Atlanta, GA and Mack Eye Center in Hoffman Estates, IL. At these large Ophthalmology practices, he focused on cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eye, refractive surgery, keratoconus and pre/post-operative surgical management.
Dr. Kim loves to provide optometric care because it allows him to focus on three things he is passionate about: health care, building relationships, and fashion. He believes that getting a comprehensive eye exam and finding the perfect eyewear is a special journey. He strives to help patients see their best, while also helping them look their best. As Pharrell Williams likes to say, “Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at the moment, and where you’re going.”
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors in the pacific northwest, fitness classes, cooking, and playing sports. Dr. Kim welcomes patients of all ages.
Dr. Kim is fluent and able to provide eye exams in Korean and English. Feel free to call us to book your next appointment with Dr. Kim. (604) 742-3937
