Find The Ideal Reading Glasses in Vancouver

Having a pair of properly fit reading lenses can be a game-changer.

Our community right outside your door, the Greater Vancouver Regional District, is one of the most moved-to destinations in western Canada and the third-largest urban centre in the country. The demographics within Vancouver are quite vast and with this, we tend to see throughout its neighborhoods a wide range of career opportunities available.

This is why, here at Della Optique, our Doctors of optometry take a keen interest in connecting with their patients during routine eye health exams. And we’ve been taking this step to heart for over 25 years at our boutique eye store in the heart of the Kitsilano shopping district.

Each individual has varying needs, a unique career, or careers and with this, they have very specific visual goals. No two Vancouverites are identical in their visual need requirements. For example, an office worker who spends the majority of their day on a screen will have very different visual needs compared to an amazon delivery employee who spends most of their day driving in glaring sunlight with only occasional near-sighted work.

The Importance Of Good Progressive Lenses

Having a pair of properly fit progressive lenses can be a game-changer for someone suffering from presbyopia, which is an eventual loss of one’s ability to focus on nearby stimuli.

But did you know that having only one pair of progressives in today’s day and age is sometimes not a complete ocular rehabilitation plan?

For example, are your current progressive lenses great for day-to-day use but unsatisfactory for computer use in the office?

If you thought “yes” then computer lenses (or sometimes called “task lenses” or “office lenses”) would probably enrich your quality of work-life by optimizing a single lens to provide maximal intermediate (computer) vision and near (phone) vision.

Protecting against blue light can most certainly be an added benefit to these lenses as well. This is just one example of how our boutique eyewear center located in the heart of Kitsilano drills down during our case history interviews so as to determine the unique vision needs of every patient.

What Are the Main Categories of Reading Glasses?

  1. Single Vision Reading Glasses: The entire lens possesses one focal power and this type of glasses are specific for reading only.

  2. Bifocals: Many people know this as those lenses that have a line in the middle of them. This type of lens was quite common in the past. However, it is not ideal for our current world. It gives the wearer great distance (driving) vision while at the same time an option of clear near (phone) vision. It does not provide adequate vision for the intermediate (computer) vision we all find ourselves using in today’s digital era.

  3. Progressives: This type of lens looks just like a single vision reading pair of glasses but corrects the wearer’s vision at all distances. It provides clear vision at a distance, intermediate, close near vision, and everything in between.

  4. Office/Computer lenses: This is an ideal lens if you spend the majority of your day in an office setting doing hours of computer/near work. The lens design is optimized for intermediate and close near vision.

What Our Clients Are Saying:

You’re In Good Hands

At Della Optique, our doctors of optometry thoroughly investigate the patient’s specific needs during the eye health exam. Our frame stylist and optician then put this information to work helping you to get styled in a pair of flattering designer frames with optometrically accurate lenses that suit your visual needs.

With online meetings becoming the norm here in Vancouver, many residents want to not only see their best while working in front of screens but also want to look their best, relying on their eyewear choices to make a statement to their colleagues.

So how will you know what reading glasses and lenses are the right choices for you?

The first step is to schedule an eye health exam. We offer this option of booking online here.

This sets you up for an optimal prescription and then the selection of a type of lens that accommodates your lifestyle. Our optometrists can identify what type of day-to-day magnification is needed for your case, and our frame stylist can then help you select your favourite frame to hold those lenses.

It takes teamwork, to make the dream work, and choosing glasses tends to highlight this.
